Patty Heppell Joins Catholic Charities’ Kinship Program

Jonathan Gilmore, coordinator of Catholic Charities’ Kinship Program, welcomes new program assistant Patty Hepple.

A former teacher’s aide in the Fulton School District, she is happy to be a part of the program. “I’ve always wanted to work for a non-profit agency and have a career that I can feel good about. It’s rewarding to know that you are making a difference in someone’s life and this position allows me to do that,” she said.

Oswego Students Set For Next Round Of ‘Battle of the Books’

The intermediate winners in the Oswego Battle of the Books represented Charles E. Riley Elementary School. Advancing to the next round were Sarah Smolinski, Sarah Fitzgibbons and Madison Plyler. Joining her was (left to right) Director of Literacy Laura Ryder, CER library media specialist Molly Clark, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction Cathy Chamberlain, Coach Jill Smolinski, CER Principal Mary Beth Fierro, Librarian Team Leader Mary Alice Brunell and Superintendent of Schools Bill Crist.

Minetto and Charles E. Riley students advanced to Oswego County Battle of the Books final round as students competed recently for the right to move on. The Battle of the Books competition began at the various elementary schools with one team from each advancing to the next round at Frederick Leighton Elementary School on Wednesday.
