Oz Roller Girls Roll Out Community Support
The Oz Roller Girls, the community’s new flat-track women’s roller derby league, has blocked out time to address a number of community causes, from hunger to veteran support to animal welfare. Leading up to their first bout, the team mounted a food drive to support the Oswego Salvation Army food services that help hungry families in the community.
FLS Paper Cranes Possess Plenty Of Strength To Help
It sounds simple enough “You can help Japan by making paper cranes.” Well, Frederick Leighton Elementary School art teacher Michele Scoville recently saw a humanitarian fundraiser to assist the victims of the March 11 massive earthquakes that struck Sendai, Japan. The resulting tsunami ravaged the coastline.

The Lakeside Artisans’ featured artist for the month of May is Sandra Dowie. She recently moved to the area. Dowie is passionate about her paintings, jewelry, pottery, and especially her equestrian art. The artist and one of her daughters, Marcella, make a vibrant and artistically knowledgeable team.

In response to the near record rate of unemployment in Oswego County, Senator Patty Ritchie has spearheaded a plan to help families and individuals prepare for the future. The senator’s office has reached out to organizations and business leaders to form a collaboration that will host a Career and Resource Expo for Oswego County residents.
Fulton Jr. High Students, Staff Join National “Let’s Move” Dance Event
Schools all over the country came to a halt at exactly the same time to do the same dance.
They were part of First Lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” initiative, aimed at getting young people off their couches and away from their snack food.
