The weather will be looking pretty good the next few days.

On Oct. 1, friends, families, former coaches and members of the Hall of Fame came together to celebrate this year’s class of inductees. Once again the event is hosted by the Oswego City School District and the Oswego Buccaneer Boosters.
They fought to keep A. L. Lee Memorial Hospital open and battled with Oswego Health over the deed to the land that the former hospital sits on, but now, with the battles over, city officials say they’re knocked out by the look of the new Urgent Care center and plans for adding many more health services.
The year of SUNY Oswego’s birth 150 years ago takes on lives of its own Tuesday as faculty, staff and students mark the college’s sesquicentennial near Glimmerglass Lagoon, with the Village student townhouses as a backdrop. A “birthday bash” for founder Edward Austin Sheldon — born Oct. 4, 1823 — put an exclamation point on the day’s festivities. (SUNY Oswego photo by Charles Wainwright)
Sandra Dowie is the featured artist for the month of October at the Oswego Public Library’s Art Gallery. A graduate of Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota with a degree in Art, and now a resident of Sterling, her favorite subject is horses. “I want to capture the horse’s personality and grace on my canvas. I seek to find the compassion that is ever present in his demeanor.”
