Assemblyman Barclay challenges school-age children to read for 15 minutes a day for 40 days throughout the summer months, with an adult or on their own. This year more than 100 kids participated in the reading challenge.
BucFest will take place Saturday from 10:30 a. m. until 1:30 p.m. p.m., at the end of Joe Wilbur Field right after the homecoming parade which will start at 10 a.m. in the lot across from the former Coleman’s Restaurant on West First Street. Callahan, Flanagan and Smith Orthodontics in Fulton made a very generous donation to Emily Bradshaw recently. They presented here with toothbrushes and toothpaste for the homeless. Other area dentists have done the same.
The 21st annual 5K SEFA/United Way Walk-A-Thon will be held on Oct. 13 at 1 p.m. on the SUNY Oswego campus. Registration starts at noon outside of Lanigan Hall. The donation fee is $5 per person.
At a recent Fulton Sunrise Rotary meeting, Ralph Singh from the Gobind Sadan Temple, spoke about how the Sikh community healed after its temple was destroyed by arson several years ago.
The victim was initially treated at Oswego Hospital and later transferred to University Hospital in Syracuse with non–life threatening injuries, police said.

At 5:58 p.m. on Wednesday, Albert M. Moody, 69, of 245 County Route 29 Apt. A, Oswego, was arrested for first-degree criminal sex act, a class B felony; first-degree rape, a class B felony; first-degree sexual abuse, a class D felony and endangering the welfare of a child.
The arrest follows the investigation into a traffic stop on SR 104 initiated by the LPR unit alerting and showing a stolen vehicle from an impound yard in the city of Oswego.
