I love small one-topic museums like the Jell-O Museum. The story of Jell-O points out the importance of marketing. A gelatin product was developed by Peter Cooper in 1845 but it wasn’t a success until, in 1897, Pearle Wait added flavor calling it Jell-O. Wait then sold his formula to Frank Woodward for $450.
The OCO Health Education program, Comprehensive Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention is recruiting youth to become Peer Educators in this initiative. CAPP works to promote the reduction of risky sexual behaviors in Oswego County adolescents.
The Oswego County Drug Treatment Court program recently had its largest graduation class ever. This is a sure sign that the program is being successful in helping people overcome drug addiction, according to the organizers.

The CYO Summer Drop-in Recreation Program at Catholic Charities of Oswego County will begin July 8 and will continue through August 23. The Summer Drop-in Recreation Program is offered free of charge to children in grades 2 through 8 in Oswego County and is held Monday through Friday, 8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m.

After providing care to the community for more than 52 years, Joseph Edmund Mather, M.D., F.A.C.O.G. obstetrician/gynecologist of Oswego County OB-GYN, P.C., has announced he will retire at the end of June. Dr. Mather Sr. has been providing women’s health care in Oswego since 1961 while maintaining privileges at Oswego Hospital until his retirement.
Patricia J. Desi, 83, passed away peacefully at her home at the Minetto Senior Housing Complex Wednesday June 26, 2013, surrounded by her family.
The Oswego “Rock the Locks” Paddlefest Committee decided Friday, June 28, to move the paddling event to the Oswego Harbor for the safety of the paddlers. “Due to flood warnings, debris in the river and strong currents from recent storms, we decided to move the event to the Oswego Harbor,” said Jackie Sheffield, associate director of the Oswego YMCA. “We are asking paddlers to meet at Wright’s Landing in Oswego instead of paddling through the locks.”
