Change of Command Ceremony Set At Fort Ontario

On Sunday August 25, at 11 a.m., First Lieutenant Nicholas J. Miles, will take over command of the 444th Engineer Company, 479th Engineer Battalion, USAR, during a ceremony on the historic parade ground inside old Fort Ontario. Lt. Miles, a native of Oswego, will take over command from Captain Donald J. Oechslin of Waverly, New York.

Fulton resident wins medal at Taekwondo National Championships

On July 8, Fulton resident John W. McEachen won a silver medal in the ultra sparring division (under 68kg age 41-50) at the 2013 USA-Taekwondo Senior National Championships in Chicago. The event took place over the 4th of July weekend. McEachen is a Border Patrol Agent at the Oswego Station, and has lived in Fulton since 2000.

Maffei Announces More Than $1.5 Million In Federal Funding For Oswego County Airport

Today (Aug. 23), U.S. Representative Dan Maffei (D-Syracuse) announced the Oswego County Airport has been awarded more than $1.5 million in federal funding from two U.S. Department of Transportation grants to acquire aircraft deicing equipment and upgrade taxiways, lighting, and wiring throughout the airport.

Reminder: Free Tire Disposal Events Saturday

The events, which are being funded through a special state grant from Senator Ritchie, will allow Oswego County residents to drop off  a maximum of four tires at five locations throughout the county, with the usual $5 fee for tire-drop off being waived. Farm tractor tires will also be accepted, but must be cut into four pieces.

AmeriCorps Walk Planned In Pulaski

“On Wednesday evening, August 28, at 6:30 p.m., we are going to celebrate the end of the summer at the John Ben Snow Community Center and John S. Haldane Memorial Arena where we will walk and clean up the trail and show off what our feet can do,” explained AmeriCorps member Stacey Petersen. ” At this time, we will bring all of the sneaker and sock donations together and be proud of how we gave back to the Pre-K to 12th grade children of the Pulaski community.”
