CNY Arts Center Hosts Open Mic Night

The “Arts in the heART” Gallery, CNY Arts Center’s downtown Fulton venue is hosting an open mic night for local artists. On Nov. 17 at 6:30 p.m. the gallery, which is located in the heart of Fulton, on 47 S. First St., across from the city’s gazebo, will provide a welcome atmosphere for local artists to share their talent.

Grant boosting locally grown produce bountiful for students, farmers

Robert Sova of SUNY Oswego, a junior business administration major and Dining Services student worker at Lakeside Dining Hall, draws a glass of fresh apple cider from Ontario Orchards in Oswego. The college bought 4,248 gallons of cider last year, and supplied unlimited cider in campus dining halls last month. Dining Services also promoted Food Day on Oct. 24, celebrating healthy fruits, vegetables and whole grains.The American Farmland Trust, an organization seeking to expand market competitiveness for local farmers, recently won a $99,427 federal grant to work with Oswego, New Paltz, Oneonta and the University at Albany to increase the use of fresh, frozen and processed vegetables raised by New York farmers as part of a pilot program that eventually would target all colleges and universities statewide.
