Raffle prizes such as gift certificates, toys, Thunder Island passes and bicycles were awarded to the dozens of students who adhered to the district’s behavioral expectations and completed the school year referral-free.
July 1, 2014, marks the 30-year anniversary of the date Nancy-Jo Scamurra, a 14-year-old from Amherst, NY, went missing from her home. Her body was found in Lake Ontario in 1984; it wasn’t identified until 2011. Despite the positive identification and continued investigation, the mystery surrounding Ms. Scamurra’s disappearance, murder, dismemberment, and decapitation, remains unsolved.
The Oswego Opera Theater’s fourth annual Golf Tournament, held on June 21 at Battle Island State Park in Fulton, was a resounding success. This tournament supports the Opera’s productions, such as the recently seen “Rigoletto – The Oswego Story,” and appearances by Craig Schulman.
The H. Lee White Maritime Museum will hold Boating Safety/Sailing Classes for Youth and Adult during July for beginner and advanced sailors. Classes are held during the morning, afternoon or evening usually for 10 hours over four days.
Robert W. Rock, 88, of Oswego, passed away Sunday June 22, 2014, in Oswego Hospital.

Evelyn A. Vorse, 89, a resident of Oswego, passed away on Tuesday June 24, 2014, at Oswego Hospital.
The Friends of History at Pratt House announces the 2014 Award Winner, Anthony Semeraro. He is a graduating senior from G. Ray Bodley High School. He will be attending RIT in the fall.
