Students Have a Blast at Camp Zerbe

The Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Junior High School end-of-the-year outing to Camp Zerbe Nature Park proved to the perfect opportunity to have a real ‘blast’ in the great outdoors. Students played tether ball, volleyball, soccer, football, kickball, basketball, Frisbee, and launched soda bottle rockets.

APW Students Host Traveling Wax Museum

A second grade reading group at Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Elementary School finished the school year with a traveling wax museum presentation. The group is comprised of six students and is led by second grade teacher Hanna Weigel as a way to promote the students’ reading and reading comprehension skills.

Eleanor M. Reilly, 76, of Hannibal, died Monday June 30, 2014, in Oswego Hospital.

An academic awards celebration honored Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Junior High School students during the final week of classes. Principal James Heffron and seventh and eighth grade teachers bestowed several academic honors upon students.

An Early Summer Tradition Is Alive And Well At Michaud

If you are from Central New York, then you know early summer means the strawberry harvest – and all that goes with it! Among residents at Michaud Health Services in Fulton, the tradition of cleaning and preparing a batch of freshly picked strawberries is alive and well.

Volunteers will meet at Pine Grove Boat Launch on July 12, to learn about invasive species and conduct a community water chestnut pull in the Salmon River Estuary. The public is invited to participate.

Volunteers Will Attack Invasive Plants at Port Ontario July 12

Volunteers, river guides, and members of local environmental organizations will gather July 12, at the Pine Grove Boat Launch near Selkirk Shores State Park for a community water chestnut pull on the Salmon River Estuary. Volunteers may ride in a driftboat with a river guide or bring their own canoes and kayaks.

Renaissance Festival To Go On As Scheduled

Empire Attractions is pleased to announce that the Sterling Renaissance Festival will indeed open as scheduled on July 5. After a challenging couple of weeks, Empire Attractions was able to generate funds needed to get the beloved festival open. Though short of the original goal, the effort generated overwhelming community support helping to build broad awareness and to help secure enough conventional financing to open the gates for the 2014 season.
