The Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Junior High School end-of-the-year outing to Camp Zerbe Nature Park proved to the perfect opportunity to have a real ‘blast’ in the great outdoors. Students played tether ball, volleyball, soccer, football, kickball, basketball, Frisbee, and launched soda bottle rockets.
A second grade reading group at Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Elementary School finished the school year with a traveling wax museum presentation. The group is comprised of six students and is led by second grade teacher Hanna Weigel as a way to promote the students’ reading and reading comprehension skills.

Volunteers, river guides, and members of local environmental organizations will gather July 12, at the Pine Grove Boat Launch near Selkirk Shores State Park for a community water chestnut pull on the Salmon River Estuary. Volunteers may ride in a driftboat with a river guide or bring their own canoes and kayaks.

Empire Attractions is pleased to announce that the Sterling Renaissance Festival will indeed open as scheduled on July 5. After a challenging couple of weeks, Empire Attractions was able to generate funds needed to get the beloved festival open. Though short of the original goal, the effort generated overwhelming community support helping to build broad awareness and to help secure enough conventional financing to open the gates for the 2014 season.
