The Oswego Firefighters held their annual Fill the Boot drive on September 30. Through their efforts and the generosity of local motorists they were able to collect $10,019.60 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
The Rachel’s Challenge presentation is coming to the Fulton Junior High School on September 24 beginning with an inspirational presentation to 7th and 8th graders in the morning, an afternoon presentation to student leaders and staff members, and a third presentation open to the public at 7:30 p.m. in the school’s gymnasium.
There will be a political rally and Second Amendment rally at Bull Head Point on Sept. 28 from noon to 5 p.m. There will also be a chicken barbecue ($3) eat in.
As a way to celebrate before, during and after the school’s varsity football homecoming game, Fulton’s G. Ray Bodley High School Student Senate will host its first-ever “Red Raider Rally” on Sept. 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Friends of History In Fulton, NY, Inc., will hold a chicken barbecue on October 5 at the Pavilion at Bullhead Point, Route 3 West. Serving will be from 11:30 a.m. until sold out. Take out or eat in.
State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Fulton arrested John R. Verdoliva, 47, of 120 W. Schuyler St., Oswego. He was charged with Sexual Abuse 2nd degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, both are class A misdemeanors.
The Oswego County Health Department reported that the Eastern equine encephalitis (EEE) virus has been found in five new mosquito samples collected last week. Three of the samples were taken from the town of New Haven, one from the town of Albion, and one from near the village of Central Square. The Oswego County Health Department also reported that a third horse in southern Oswego County has died of EEE.
The Oswego County Probation Department reports that its computer servers have been fully restored and it is now able to resume service to the public, courts and clients. Clients are asked to contact their probation officer with any questions or concerns.
Kevin Ahern has been elevated to interim head softball coach by Oswego State. Ahern fills the vacancy after serving as an assistant coach for the past four seasons.
The Oswego Fire Department is continuing to test hydrants in the Third Ward of the city of Oswego. If testing is being done in your neighborhood or you are experiencing discolored water, you are advised to run an outside spigot until it clears.
