The Oswego State men’s soccer team defeated host Geneseo 1-0 on Friday afternoon. With the win improves the team’s record to 4-8-2 on the season and 3-3-1 in the SUNYAC.

In the study of the human body, first grade students at Granby Elementary School have learned all about blood and its importance in life. To put that knowledge into a practical community service project, the students and their teachers have organized a blood drive at the school to be held on October 22 from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Kenney Middle School students have fun during fire prevention lesson
As part of an annual fire safety awareness lesson, students from several life skills classes at DMK congregated into a classroom where real-life firefighters greeted them. The firemen discussed the dangers associated with house fires and provided ways to prevent such accidents from occurring.

Letchworth State Park is located 35 miles southwest of Rochester and 60 miles southeast of Buffalo in Livingston and Wyoming counties. The park is roughly 17 miles long, covering 14,350 acres of land along the Genesee River with three major waterfalls and several lesser ones. The largest is 107 feet high. The canyon was carved by the river over thousands of years with some of the cliffs nearly 600 feet above the river. John and I have been to Letchworth several times and it is at its loveliest in the fall.

In keeping with its mission of ending hunger, helping youth succeed, and improving the overall health and well-being of our communities United Way of Greater Oswego County is doing its part to raise awareness of the food shortage in Oswego County and encourage the community to help fill the shelves of our area food pantries. On November 13 United Way of Greater Oswego County will hold its ninth annual Stone Soup Luncheon at St. Joseph’s Parish Center, 240 W. First St.

Girl Scout Creates Video to Encourage Girls To Join Girl Scouts
“Girl Scouts is fun! There are so many opportunities available to girls through Girl Scouts,” said Ginger VanAllen, a Girl Scout with Troop 11013 from Central Square. When VanAllen decided she wanted to earn her Girl Scout Silver Award she knew a lot of older girls were dropping out of Girl Scouts to be involved with other activities. She knew she needed to make an impact on these girls.

CNY Arts Center announces Partnership with Cayuga Community College
CNY Arts Center is pleased to announce an agreement has been reached with Cayuga Community College at the River Glen Plaza. CNY Arts Center will establish its primary location on campus, including Arts in the HeArt Gallery, in a move to merge the arts community with the college community. This will not only provide a home for the multi-arts center but also support opportunities and collaborations for students with access to the theatre and gallery space.
