The newest residents of the town of Mexico received quite the introduction to the community during a ceremony held Saturday at Mexico Middle School. United States Army SFC Jeffery Hackett and his family were greeted by dozens family members, friends, local politicians and soon-to-be neighbors who thanked Hackett for his military service, which has left the veteran permanently injured.

The State of the State address is usually in the beginning of January but this year it was appropriately delayed due to the passing of the Governor’s father. If you didn’t hear much about the State of the State, it is because the day after the State of the State address long-term State Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver was arrested for public corruption.

Novelis Commissions $48 Million Automotive Closed-Loop Recycling Investment in Scriba Plant

Novelis, the global leader in aluminum rolling and recycling, today (Jan. 26) announced the completion of a $48 million investment in its automotive scrap aluminum recycling facility in Scriba. It expands upon the company’s recent growth in Oswego to meet the increased demand for aluminum automotive sheet in North America. Including this recycling center, over the past five years, Novelis has invested more than $400 million in Oswego and hired more than 430 new employees, with around 250 additional jobs planned by the year 2020.
