‘Noise’ Returns To Oswego Council Chambers

Even though the matter wasn’t on the agenda for this week’s Common Council meeting, a handful of residents continued the discussion regarding the city’s noise ordinance and possible waivers. The First Ward councilor used an air horn to demonstrate just how loud 90+ decibels really is. And again, no action was taken on the issue.

Driver Arrested for DWI after property damage accident

On January 25, State Police in Fulton investigated a one-car property damage accident that occurred at 1:30 a.m. on County Route 57 in the town of Schroeppel. The investigation revealed that a 2011 Toyota Pickup truck was northbound on CR57 when the driver lost control, exited the roadway and struck a utility pole.

Fulton Welcomes National Honor Society Inductees

The Fulton City School District welcomed 28 new inductees to the Joseph Campolieta Chapter of the National Honor Society recently.

Fulton is unique in that the NHS student officers direct their induction ceremony. Principal Donna Parkhurst said, “It’s wonderful to attend an event and be a guest while our young students run the show.”

Oswego County Clerk’s Office Accepts Electronically Recorded Land Records

Beginning Feb. 1, the Oswego County Clerk’s Office will accept electronically-recorded land record documents through e-recording service providers, County Clerk Michael C. Backus said Jan. 27. County residents and businesses have the ability to record their documents electronically through eRecording Partners Network (EPN), Corporation Service Company (CSC), and Simplifile, three of the country’s largest e-recording service providers.

Oswego School Budget Plans Waiting On State Action

Superintendent Ben Halsey said that while “building the revenue side of the budget” there is no assistance from the State of New York. Governor Andrew Cuomo is not allowing “running the numbers” for state aid. This “run” usually allows school district officials to commence budget planning, but it appears that Albany isn’t going to run the preliminary state aid numbers until the budget is in place. “We are left out in the dark while the political games plays out,” Halsey said.
