The Oswego County Legislature’s Public Safety Committee presented a certificate of appreciation to Investigator Scott Beckwith for 10 years of service. Beckwith is a criminal investigator with the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office.

Trinity Catholic School will hold an open house from 6:30 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday (Feb. 11), at 115 E. Fifth St., in Oswego. The open house welcomes parents in the community who are interested in enrolling their children for the 2015-2016 school year. This includes current and new Pre-K families who are planning for next year and new families of students in kindergarten through 6th grade.

The Oswego High School Varsity Winter Guard participated in the Winter Guard International Regional Competition on Saturday (February 7) at Corning-Painted Post High School in Corning. For the second year in a row the guard scored well enough in the preliminary round to advance to the finals competition held Saturday night.
Over the weekend, the Port City celebrated what the area is best known for – Winter. This year marked the 10th annual Warm Up Oswego festival. Throughout the afternoon, hundreds of people wandered around the Civic Plaza and two floors of King Arthur’s Suites to check out the vendors’ wares and watch the various demonstrations and performances.
At approximately 9:15 a.m. today (Feb. 8), members of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office were called to investigate a report of a domestic dispute at 4930 N. Jefferson St., apartment #6, in the village of Pulaski. The dispute was between a mother and son, 57-year-old Melanie A. Britton and 29-year-old Francis (Frank) Britton, deputies said. During the investigation a broken marijuana pipe was viewed on the floor of the residence, according to the report. A subsequent search of the residence produced precursors for the manufacturing of Methamphetamine and equipment used in said manufacturing, according to deputies.
The No. 9 nationally-ranked Oswego State women’s ice hockey team downed visiting William Smith in a 5-1 contest on Sunday afternoon at the Marano Campus Center Arena. The win makes it five in a row for Oswego, improving to a 16-4-1 overall record and 12-3-1 in the conference.
