The Fulton Art Association is pleased to announce the winners of the ninth annual High School Invitational Art and Photography Show held at the Fulton Municipal Building. Ninety-one students from high schools in Fulton, Hannibal, Oswego, and Phoenix school districts submitted 112 pieces of artwork in 14 medium categories. The show was created to help provide encouragement and guidance to high school artists and provide them a venue to display their talent and artwork.

Participants from ARISE created artwork for the 2014 ‘UNIQUE Art Exhibit’ and a selection of those works are currently on display outside of Assemblyman Barclay’s office at the Oswego County Building at 200 N. Second St. in Fulton. Through the use of art and expression, the exhibit promotes the artistic vision of individuals with developmental disabilities.
The parents and children enjoyed listening to “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carle, which was read by a sibling Jaden Clifton, drinking rainbow smoothies and doing several activities related to the book.
Dr. Tracy K. Lewis, distinguished teaching professor in SUNY Oswego’s modern languages and literatures department, has been made a member and honorary professor in the Ateneo de Lengua y Cultura Guarani in Paraguay, in recognition of his career-long dedication to Guarani, the South American nation’s co-official language, with Spanish.
Students with a 3.30 or higher term average while enrolled in 3.75 or more course hours are eligible for Dean’s Award recognition at Colgate.
Billie Pickert, of Spring Hill Maple Farm in Rodman, NY, stopped by the school to hold a presentation on what it takes to make authentic maple syrup. Pickert explained that maple season is quickly approaching, as “tapping” of maple trees usually begins around the end of winter and the beginning of spring.
Mary E. Wayman, 57 of Fulton, passed away Friday evening March 13, 2015, in Oswego Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Students at Lanigan Elementary School were recently honored during an assembly for exemplifying honesty throughout the month of February. One student from each class throughout the school was chosen by their teachers to receive special recognition during the ceremony for showcasing honesty.
