Scores were high, and close, at the third and fourth grade Fairley Elementary Battle of the Books. Five teams competed in two eight-question rounds, scoring four points for every correct book title and eight points for every correct title and author.
The Oswego City School District is conducting a Family Engagement Survey in order to assess the current functioning of the district, from the perspective of families who have children in the the schools. PLS Associates, Inc., based in Florida and New York, is conducting the online survey that is now available on the district’s website at www.oswego.org The survey is password protected and entitled “Oswego City Schools Family Survey 2015.”
There is something sublime and magical about a river trip. I feel like I am part of a “National Geographic” special as I cruise pass one vignette after another. The Mekong is the 12th longest river in the world and borders many countries. John and I have taken a river cruise on the Mekong between Laos and Thailand. This time, we boarded the RV Mekong Pandaw in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on the Tonle Sap, a branch of the Mekong.

The eighth annual AHOPE (African HIV Orphans: Project Embrace) Mystery Team vs. the Pulaski Varsity Boys’ Basketball team was an overwhelming success. Event coordinator, Ashleigh Wilson, said more than $1,600 was raised for the cause which benefits the AHOPE orphanage in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Edward Z. Thompson, 71, passed away in the comfort of his home with his family and loved ones by his side.
Harry Thomas Cook, 78, a resident of Ellen Street, Oswego, passed away Friday March 13, 2015, at home surrounded by his loving family.
On Wednesday investigators with the Oswego County Drug Task Force, with the assistance of the Fulton City Police Department, arrested Thomas Knopp, 31, and Tifffany M. Braunig, 27, both of 121 W. Broadway, Fulton. The arrests were based on arrest warrants that had been issued by Oswego County Court as a result of Knopp and Braunig being indicted by an Oswego County Grand Jury, police said today (March 13).
G. Ray Bodley students visited Fairgrieve Elementary recently to help implement a new recycling program. GRB’s recycling program began in 1987 when a student took notice of the amount of paper being thrown away by the school.
