On Sunday, a group of Friends of Great Bear worked at Great Bear for Canal Clean Sweep and Oswego Earth Week. As a main project, they worked on replacing the bench that they had installed nine years ago.
As part of the “Oswego Lighthouse: Community Arts Project,” the H. Lee White Maritime Museum at Oswego is hosting an art workshop geared towards teen youth, titled “Seeing the Big Picture: Community Art and Teens” on May 7 from 1-3 p.m. at the Maritime Museum.
Oswego County Opportunities’ Youth 4 Youth program has established a team of peer educators in the Fulton High School who provide education and outreach to youth in their school and community about HIV, sexually transmitted diseases, birth control and other health topics.
The Kenney Middle School Jump Rope For Heart event will be held at the school, 846 Cayuga St., Hannibal, on May 3 from 2:35 – 3:20 p.m. Sixth grader Carl Emmons III is raising money for the American Heart Association in honor of his twin cousins who were both diagnosed with a congenital heart defect.
Central New York women looking to grow their small businesses through contracts with state government are invited to attend a workshop and informational sessions hosted by State Senator Patty Ritchie and the state Division of Minority and Women’s Business Development.
SUNY Oswego recently presented scholarships and other awards to more than 100 students at the college’s 2016 Honors Convocation. The formal ceremony, complete with a procession of faculty and college officers in full academic regalia, is sponsored each spring at Oswego by Vega, the women’s honor society.
