The CNY Allstar Polka Band will perform live at the 11th Annual Fulton Polish Fest on September 17 at the Fulton Polish Home, 153 W. First St. S., Fulton. Admission is free and the band will be on stage from 3 to 7 p.m. playing all your Polka favorites.
The Oswego City-County Youth Bureau will present the 2016 Youth Forum beginning at 9 a.m. Oct. 24 at Elim Grace Church, 340 W. First St., Oswego. The forum provides an opportunity for residents to learn about services available to youth in the Oswego County community.
Fulbright Canada, part of the prestigious global Fulbright program, has awarded Kevin White of SUNY Oswego’s anthropology faculty a spring 2017 visiting research chair in trans-border studies at Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario. In addition to teaching classes in his areas of expertise, White said he plans to conduct research at the Six Nations of the Grand River, a reserve in Oshweken, Ontario, near Brantford.

This month, community residents and organizations are working to raise awareness about suicide, to educate people about the signs and symptoms, and encourage people to reach out before it’s too late. Many of us have been personally affected by suicide and know a close family member or friend that has been lost to suicide. The stories are heartbreaking and often loved ones are left feeling confused, guilty, angry, hurt and deeply saddened by the loss.
