An evening of history will be presented in downtown Oswego Sept. 14, with a presentation on the historic architecture of Oswego County as part of the county’s bicentennial celebration. Beginning at 5 p.m., Oswego County Historian Justin White and Austin Wheelock of Heritage Foundation of Oswego County will present a photo history of Oswego County’s significant architectural heritage.

The Oswego Boxing Club at the YMCA brought two fighters, Andre Mendez and John Shatraw to the Great New York State Fair to compete in the Tournament of Champions on Sept. 3. The tournament, hosted by Ray Rinaldi, a Syracuse Sports Hall of Fame inductee whose foundation created the North and West Area Athletic and Education Centers in Syracuse, brought eight boxing clubs from CNY, Pennsylvania and even Canada to the Sports Activity Center at the NYS Fair to battle it out in the ring.
Loretta Karecki, 85, a lifelong resident of Oswego, currently residing at St. Francis Commons, passed away peacefully on Saturday September 3, 2016, at Oswego Hospital with family by her side.
Richard Manwaring, 76, of Oswego, died Sunday September 4, 2016, at Oswego Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Kelsie Jordan McNitt was born in Oswego Hospital on Sept. 2, 2016, at 8:12 a.m.
