Exelon Volunteers Revamp Fort Ontario Baseball Fields

As part of Exelon Corporation’s moral standard, a large focus looms on local community involvement and promoting employee volunteerism. That’s why Exelon volunteers from local nuclear energy plants were found at Fort Ontario, revamping the local youth baseball fields. “They’ve been here sprucing up the dugouts, making their presence known in the community,” said plant manager, Rob Kreider. The volunteers, a first line supervisor peer group, decided among themselves that one way to promote teamwork and networking outside of the plant was to volunteer at community service projects together.

Sandra Scott Travels: Oswego Lighthouse Still Beckons Boaters Today

The Oswego Lighthouse, the icon of the city of Oswego, has basically been off limits to visitors until now. The breakwall that leads to the lighthouse is too dangerous to negotiate and, most likely, if reached by private boat the lighthouse will be closed. H. Lee White Maritime Museum now runs a tourist boat to the lighthouse twice a week for a mere $20 and includes admission to the H. Lee White Maritime Museum. John and I have been to the museum several times but each time is different.

Town of Oswego Announces Special Election

A special election is scheduled for July 25, from noon to 8 p.m. at Oswego Town Hall to vote on resolutions to consider bond issues for the purchase of highway equipment. These resolutions will establish the creation of long-term bonds for payments, rather than using ordinary bank loans.

Magazine Ranks SUNY Oswego No. 4 For Aspiring Broadcast Journalists

Hands-on opportunities and academic strengths contributed to SUNY Oswego being ranked fourth recently in College Magazine’s “Top 10 Colleges for Broadcast Journalism.” Oswego’s facilities include “three fully equipped state-of-the-art digital TV studios plus audio/radio production labs and recording studios,” the magazine said. “Students work hands-on in class and student-run groups,” including WTOP-10 TV, WNYO radio and The Oswegonian, the article noted.
