Russ Brown nearly broke his own track record on Central New York Chevy Dealers Classic Qualifying Night at Oswego Speedway Friday evening. Brown, driving a brand new Ray Hedger built machine, took his familiar No. 13 to the top of the charts in Classic qualifying for the Pathfinder Bank SBS at an astounding 18.535 second lap.

John and I had visited the St. Marie Among the Iroquois a couple of times years ago but I knew it had been redone so decided it was time to revisit. We were impressed with the changes and, as always, inspired by the Native American’s perspective on Mother Nature. In reality, the site is two historic sites and there are great views of Onondaga Lake. The museum, which was closed for a couple of years, reopened on November 21, 2015, and is now called Skä•noñh-Great Law of Peace Center.

Shampine Blisters Oswego to Sit on Pole for 61st Budweiser International Classic 200

North Carolina’s Keith Shampine made history on Friday night at Oswego Speedway, becoming the first Shampine on the pole of the Budweiser International Classic 200 since his Uncle Jim in 1979. Shampine and the Syrell Racing No. 68 of Michael Barnes will sit on the front row for the 61st annual ‘Classic.’

State Police Announce Participation in ‘Drunk Driving, Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over’ Crackdown

The New York State Police will again participate in a national crackdown, “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign this Labor Day weekend. The enforcement period runs through Monday, September 4. Labor Day weekend traditionally results in heavy traffic volumes throughout the state. Unfortunately, this increased flow of traffic brings with it increased accidents, serious injuries and fatalities.
