SUNY Oswego has awarded Presidential Scholarships to a select group of students from the area who started at the college in fall 2017. The scholarships are $20,000 over four years — $5,000 a year — for students residing on campus. Off-campus Presidential Scholarships are $2,500 a year.
Students at the Center for Instruction, Technology and Innovation recently learned all about defensive areas, wing areas, cross-checks and goals when they attended the Lax All-Stars North American Invitational Box Lacrosse tournament.
The Charles E. Riley Home and School Community Fair is scheduled for November 18 at the school from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. CER Home and School Association event organizer Laura Ruggio said, “This is an event for both adults and children. Our hope is to make this an annual event that can help raise money to help improve our students’ experience while at school in a manner that can bring out community together.”
Oswego County Opportunities IMPACT program is having just that; a positive impact on the fitness opportunities in Fulton. Over the past year IMPACT has collaborated with Friends of Fulton Parks on several healthy lifestyle initiatives such as the Lake Neatahwanta Nature Trail Walk and the “Get Fulton Fit” wellness challenge.
Several Fairgrieve Elementary School students were recently honored for exceeding expectations in the school cafeteria throughout the month of October. Recipients of the monthly Golden Spoon honors were recognized during a Morning Express program, where they received applause, cheers and congratulatory messages from Principal Jean Sampsell, guests, classmates and teachers.
Oswego Health is offering a free diabetes prevention program, Prevent T2 Diabetes, to assist community members who are pre-diabetic. Community members who have prediabetes are encouraged to enroll and learn how to make important life style changes to improve their health status.
CiTi Distance Learning students got the chance to encounter an up-close and personal view of the college experience recently, as the Cayuga Community College Distance Learning Open House celebrated the 20th anniversary of the partnership between the educational institutions.
Community Bank N.A. branches across Western and Central New York and the Finger Lakes region recently joined together to raise funds for the Red Cross to support victims of Hurricane Harvey. Participating branches in Oswego County included Fulton, Hannibal and Oswego.
Pvt. Brittani Saccocci from Central Square was formally welcomed into the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 27th Brigade Special Troops Battalion during a transition ceremony at the Auburn Armory in Auburn.
Several students became fascinated with during a recent Listening and Learning unit on the human body, in which they learned all about blood and its components, how to keep bodies healthy and the body systems: circulatory, muscular, skeletal and digestive.
