New York Sea Grant coastal education and fisheries specialists have contributed to development of the comprehensive Education and Outreach on Asian Carp in the Great Lakes report just issued by the Great Lakes Sea Grant Network with information on carp life history, movement and behavior, monitoring, control, ecosystem impacts and gaps in current knowledge that need to be addressed further.
Mark Slosek, Oswego City Historian, and a group of other volunteers is working on a project to commemorate World War I. Next year will be the 100th anniversary of the War to End All Wars. The grassroots group recently presented its plan to members of the Common Council and received a favorable recommendation.

On Saturday, (Oct. 28), The Oswego Tier II Travel team sponsored by the Oswego Sub Shop defeated The Syracuse Blazers 12-2. The Blazers got on the board early with Kyle Debejian scoring just 16 seconds in on a clear breakaway, but The Sub Shop controlled the game from there. On Sunday Morning The Sub Shop Peewees battled rival Skaneateles at the Anthony J Crisafulli Rink. The Sub Shop again came out on top, this time in a much closer contest 3-2.

State Police in Hastings are investigating a criminal mischief that occurred shortly after midnight on Sunday, October 29, at the Pleasant Lawn Cemetery located at 285 State Route 69a in the town of Parish. The investigation has revealed that a vehicle believed to possibly be a 2002 dodge ram pickup truck struck multiple head stones
The Oswego City-County Youth Bureau, in collaboration with the city of Oswego, will host this year’s “30th” tree lighting event “An Oswego Christmas.” The event will be held on November 25 from 10 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. All activities will be held at Civic Plaza.
