Oswego Police Department Recognizes Domestic Violence Awareness Month

In recognition of October being Domestic Violence Awareness Month the Oswego City Police Department will display purple ribbons on its patrol vehicles as purple is the official color for Domestic Violence Awareness. Additionally, Oswego City Hall is bathed in purple light and there is a “Silent Witness and Survivor Flag” display on the grounds with purple flags representing victims and survivors of domestic violence.

Karl (Carl Neff) and his wife Betsy (Olivia Wilmot), who is pregnant and deaf, prepare to move to the suburbs in 1959, having sold their house to the neighborhood's first African Americans in the SUNY Oswego theatre department's "Clybourne Park," opening Oct. 19 in Waterman Theatre. Wilmot, the play's dramaturgs and a local member of the deaf community work to make the role of Betsy multidimensional and believable.

Northern Oswego County Health Services, Inc., announces the expansion of it dental services with the opening of a new dental practice and the hiring of new dental providers. On June 5, NOCHSI opened its newly constructed and equipped dental practice immediately adjacent to its Fulton Health Center at 510 S. Fourth St., Suite 600 in Fulton, in the former A.L. Lee Memorial Hospital building now owned by Oswego Health.

November Ballot Offers Public Chance to Vote on Pension Forfeiture for Corrupt Officials

For years, state lawmakers convicted of abusing power related to their public duties have been able to collect a state pension and sometimes even behind bars. Thankfully, this could change for future criminals if voters approve an amendment to the state constitution in November. This election year, New York state voters will have the opportunity to amend the State Constitution to permit the forfeiture of state pensions for those public officials convicted of a felony related to their public duties (e.g. bribery).

Friends of the Library Plan Quilling Sessions

Two sessions on quilling, sponsored by Friends of the Library, will be held at Oswego Public Library, 120 E. Second St. They’re planned for October 25 and November 1 from 12:30 – 2:30 p.m. Participants will create a quilled object during each session, a card with flowers in the first session and a magnet with flowers or animals in the second session.
