A new exhibition of clay sculptures by acclaimed and highly innovative artist Peter B. Jones (Onondaga) will open at the Syracuse University Art Museum on August 24 and will be on view through December 15. Continuity, Innovation, and Resistance: The Art of Peter B. Jones comments on and actively resists the impact of colonialism on Haudenosaunee communities, past and present. His art presents Haudenosaunee culture as a continuum that has resisted and persisted despite serious attacks on Haudenosaunee lands, sovereignty, and cultural identity.

Mayor Billy Barlow announced today a free concert will take place on Wednesday, August 30 in Breitbeck Park featuring The Syracuse Highlanders. The Syracuse Highlanders are a Central New York based piping, drumming, and Celtic entertainment band featuring Pipe Major Jack Heins and Drum Major Jason Breed. The concert will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and coolers are permitted.
