OSWEGO COUNTY – Oswego County Today presents the top stories from this past week.

City of Fulton news:

  • The Fulton Lions Club is sponsoring a free concert on Thursday, Sept. 14 at Voorhees Park in the Leo Chirello Memorial Gazebo. The concert will feature Shashi Kanbur, sax and Leah on vocals. See full story here.
  • The Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce (GOFCC), in partnership with the Fulton Lions Club, will match $10 of SNAP food vouchers to give people the opportunity to receive more fresh fruits and vegetables. See full story here.
  • The Fulton City Park and Recreation Department has been working with stakeholders and a consultant to develop a master plan for Lake Neatahwanta ‘s Recreation Park re-development – the park a major hub for community events, sports and social gatherings. See full story here. 

City of Oswego news:

  • Mayor Billy Barlow announced the grand opening of the William S. Cahill, Jr Pier in the City of Oswego on Wednesday, August 19. The $10 million construction project transformed the old abandoned coal trestle into a new, modern, waterfront park, allowing for public access from land, boating access from Lake Ontario, and additional fishing opportunities for visitors and residents.   • Oswego native and Camillus resident Peter Capizzi  asked to visit Rudy’s Lakeside Drive-In in a hospice request; getting the chance to visit his beloved restaurant with  family on Saturday, Aug. 13. See full story here.
  • Mayor Billy Barlow has proposed his 2024 city operating budget to the Oswego Common Council, his seventh budget as Mayor. Mayor Barlow’s $60,807,855 spending plan, for the seventh consecutive year, calls for no increases to any taxes or fees. See full story here.

  • ConnextCare  held a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for their External Respiratory Center (ERC), a brand new acute care space constructed at the Pulaski office – the largest health center within the ConnextCare network. See full story here.
  • The Phoenix CSD inducted their first two members in the new Music Hall  of Fame; Kayleigh Moyer and the late Anthony “Mr. P” Pietricola becoming the first inaugural members. See full story here.
  • New York State Department of Health informed the Oswego County Health Department today that West Nile Virus (WNV) was detected in two mosquito pools (samples). One was collected from the town of Hastings and the other from the town of West Monroe. See full story here.
