OSWEGO – Cast members from across Oswego County are busy rehearsing for the upcoming Oswego Players’ production of the popular musical “Grease.”
With book, music and lyrics by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey, the musical has been a perennial favorite on stage, television and in the movies.
The Players’ production will be staged in the Frances Marion Brown Theater of the Oswego Arts Center on July 8, 9, 14, 15 and 16.
New to the Oswego Players’ production staff are stage director Tom Briggs and musical director Robert Dumas.
Briggs, an elementary school teacher in the Fulton School District, has been a long-time director of high school plays and musicals for the Fulton district.
This is his first stage directorial offering for the Oswego Players.
Dumas, choral director at the Oswego High School, comes to the Players as the musical director for “Grease.”
A graduate of the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam, he has been with the Oswego High School for five years and has been both choral director and musical director for their yearly musicals.
This is also his first time working with the Oswego Players.
The two directors have assembled a diverse cast from across the area to bring to life the characters in the musical.
Songs in the show include “Summer Nights,” “Greased Lightnin’,” “Look At Me, I’m Sandra Dee” among others.
Choreographer for the show is Stephfond Brunson.
Performances will be July 8, July 14 and July 15 at 8 p.m. and July 9 and 16 at 2 p.m.

“Grease” is presented by special arrangements with Samuel French, Inc., with funding provided by CNYArts.
