Rain Postpones Harborfest Children’s Parade

UPDATEÂ From Harborfest:

Harborfest officials said Friday afternoon that they’re “moving forward at this point with the schedule. There may be some delays at certain parks, but hopefully not many.”Â In case of inclement weather on Saturday night, the rain date for the fireworks is Sunday.

The Harborfest Childrenâ€™s Parade scheduled for Friday morning was postponed until noon on Saturday. ThepParade, sponsored by Oswego Health, will start at East Park and the route will take participants to the Novelis Family Park at Fort Ontario. Pre-parade festivities will be limited, but all children are encouraged to come and join in the fun.

Here in Oswego County, people aren’t strangers to the heat and humidity of a Central New York summer. We do everything from cranking up the AC, to heading out on the boat for the breeze and maybe a dip in the lake, to relaxing poolside with a cool drink. Harborfest Opens Tonight; Little River Band Performs

It’s opening night for Harborfest.Â The annual summer celebration begins in the usual fashion — with an opening set of concerts wrapped around an opening ceremony.

Thursday night’s opening begins with the Bob Seger tribute band “Hollywood Nights” at 7:30 p.m.

Opening ceremonies take place at 8:30 p.m.

Right after that, the night’s headliners take the stage.Â Australia’s Little River Band perform on the Breitbeck Park stage beginning at 9:00 p.m.

Oswego County To Remove Deteriorated Bridge In Orwell

A deteriorated bridge on Dam Road (Stillwater) over the Salmon River will be removed by the Oswego County Highway Department following a determination that the bridgeâ€™s condition is a safety hazard and near collapsing.

County of Oswego IDA Awarded Funding for Intermediary Relending Program

At Operation Oswego Countyâ€™s (OOC) annual meeting last month, U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) New York State Director Jill Harvey announced that the County of Oswego Industrial Development Agency (IDA) was awarded $750,000 in funding through USDA Rural Development’s Intermediary Relending Program (IRP).
