Photos: Erin Maxwell Park Equipment Dedication
This will look like old news to you, but to me, it’s a case of “making amends”. This photo, and a few more inside with the story, came from a recent dedication in Palermo of a bench and play equipment in honor of Erin Maxwell. I was out of town that day and could not cover the event, so the organizer asked Susan Lanty, who had taken some pictures there, to share some with us. She did, but I never saw them, until Wednesday night.

Christmas Music Concert Dec. 11
The West Baptist Church will host an evening of Christmas music on Friday, December 11th at 7pm. The concert will feature the church’s Handbell Choir in a program of several familiar Christmas carols as well as the vocal ensemble Praise 7 and the newly restored pipe organ.

Spiritually Speaking: Life with Betty
Who is Betty? Let me introduce you to her – well, as best I can. We’re still getting to know each other. We met last Friday at a rescue shelter in Broadalbin, NY. At the moment, we are sharing a two week trial period to see if we are compatible. Thunder, the cat, is still undecided. I think Betty and I are looking at a long term relationship.

Salvadore Flirts with 300; Hockey Varsity Ties; 7th Grade Hoop Win
The Oswego High School bowling program might have disappeared for several years, but the team is back and the boys are on a torrid pace.
On Tuesday, Oswego defeated Baldwinsville 3-0 as Matt Salvador carded a 737 with a high game of 278 to lead the Bucs over the Bees.

Playground Plan For Leighton Elementary Takes Big Step Forward
A group of residents, led by Judi Kenefic, has been working behind the scenes for several years to put a new playground in place. Tuesday, the group made its plans public.
The wooden playground built in 1991 is falling apart, Kenefic said. “There’s very few pieces left and what’s there is not safe. Neighbors won’t go there anymore because it’s in disrepair and dirty.”

Assembly Approved $2.8 Billion In Cuts; Not Enough, Says Governor
Most of the cuts have already been made. Gov. David Paterson got fed up with waiting for the Legislature to make cuts, so he ordered state agencies to give back nearly half a billion dollars and took money from other accounts. The Legislature opposed Paterson’s call to cut school aid in the middle of the year.
