District Officials Share One Year Progress Update on Focus District Designation

Fulton City School District officials have presented the summary of a one year progress report after being labeled a focus district by the NYS Education Department last year. For FCSD specifically, the district attained focus status based on the elementary and middle school ELA and Math combined performance index for the Hispanic subgroup of students. Additionally, G. Ray Bodley High School was labeled a focus school based on the ELA and math combined performance index for the economically disadvantaged subgroup of students.

Public Invited To Free Day Of Family Fun at Annual Parent University

Fulton City School District officials invite district families to a day of free family fun at Parent University to be held Saturday (April 1) from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at G. Ray Bodley High School located at 6 William Gillard Drive. The event is entirely free and will provide a full day of fun, learning, and opportunities. Similar to last year, transportation is available upon reservation and supervised activities for children ages 4-12 are available throughout the event.

Oswego County DA to Oversee Criminal Case Following Fatal Syracuse Hit and Run Accident

Oswego County District Attorney Greg Oakes will oversee the criminal case against former investigator for the Onondaga County District Attorney’s office, 37-year-old Peter J. Rauch of Liverpool after he struck an 18-year-old man with his vehicle and fled the scene on Tuesday (March 21) at 1:30 a.m. The victim, Seth M. Collier, was immediately taken to Upstate University Hospital where he was listed in critical condition upon admittance, however, Syracuse Police have since confirmed that Collier succumbed to his injuries at 3:36 p.m. on Thursday, March 23.

Fulton Council Rejects Zone Change Proposal After Second Public Hearing

The Fulton Common Council revisited a zone change request after no action was taken following a public hearing in August. Property owner for the locations listed at 837 and 839 Oneida St., Joseph Latino has requested the zoning to be changed from the current C-1 Commercial to R-1 Residential with the intent to sell the property. With five councilmen present at the initial public hearing, all fives votes in favor were required to approve the zone change. After two councilmen abstained their votes, no action was taken, Mayor Woodward explained.

Fulton Superintendent Presents First Draft of 2017-18 Budget

Superintendent Brian Pulvino presented his first Fulton City School District official budget draft at a board of education meeting held Monday (March 20) since beginning his position with the district this school year. In it’s earliest draft form, the 2017-2018 school budget totals $70,542,921 showing a $206,421 increase from the 2016-2017 budget, a difference of 0.29 percent.
