A list of 23 leaders of Ivorian cocoa and coffee industry groups are facing charges of alleged embezzlement and fraud that stem from a judicial investigation in the Ivory Coast. Most recognizable locally on that list were Jean-Claude Amon, 62, and Yallé Agbré, 58, of New York Chocolate and Confections Company.

A new business in a popular downtown location is facing problems that could result in closed doors. To try to change that, the city of Fulton has planned a public hearing to discuss possible changes to the time limit on parking in “lot 5.”

Five citizens were honored by the New York State Police Monday for their efforts to assist a local trooper as he fought to apprehend a violent man a year ago. Without their help, Sgt. Joseph Domagola said there is no way to guarantee that the situation would have turned out the same.

The head of the Lee Memorial Hospital board of directors says while Oswego Health has decided not to pursue an affiliation, the possibilities are far from over. He stressed, too, that Lee is not closing June 30.

Members of the CSEA who are employed by the city of Fulton ratified a new four-year labor agreement Thursday evening. It is the first of the city’s three bargaining units to approve a new labor agreement. The previous contract expired at the end of 2007.  The city is expected to vote on the agreement next week.

It has been another busy year for tree work in the city of Fulton. This week, the Fulton Common Council agreed to make a contingent transfer to replenish the budget lines for tree removal. Since January, the tree removal needs in Fulton had deteriorated the $45,000 budget line for that expense to zero.

The city of Fulton agreed this week to fund a list of capital projects through the issuance of bond anticipation notes.

Two former Oswego County legislators are suing a Fulton-based newspaper, claiming that the paper slanted articles to favor the promotion of a county employee who was involved in a relationship with one of the paper’s reporters.
