Missing person is located in Brooklyn

SUNY Oswego officials have reported that Natalie A. Smith, a VISTA member assigned to SUNY Oswego and reported missing since June 9, was located by New York State Police investigators Friday evening, June 16, in Brooklyn. Smith is well and, upon interviewing with state police investigators at the 72nd Precinct, has indicated her wishes to remain in Brooklyn.

County Moves Ahead With Intermunicipal Sewer District Plan

Capital project #192 was established in 2009 for the purpose of advancing municipal sewer service from the city of Fulton into the town of Volney. The project was designed and approved – but never funded. Now, the county is proposing to construct “Section 2,” which would provide service along Route 176 and most of Howell Road. This would include the airport and the adjacent industrial park properties.

Fulton Group Charged With Hate Crime

The suspects are accused of engaging in a physical fight with the victim. During the altercation, the victim was repeatedly kicked, punched and struck with a board causing substantial pain and bruising, according to police. The investigation revealed that the assault was unprovoked and during the course of the assault the individuals did repeatedly refer to the victim using racial slurs.

Oswego Public Library Celebrates 160th Anniversary

Gerrit Smith was an abolitionist, women’s rights activist, educator and wealthy landowner. He owned property in his home region of central Madison County and elsewhere, including vast holdings in Oswego County. He started the Oswego Public Library (the castle on the hill). It opened its doors for the first time in 1857, making it now America’s oldest public library still in its original building. The library, located at 120 E. Second St., near Oneida Street, marked the occasion with an anniversary celebration on Wednesday.

Broadwell Hospitality Group To Manage Transient Dockage

The Broadwell Hospitality Group is a force along the Port City’s waterfront. Now, the entrepreneurs would like to branch out into the waterway. At last week’s Administrative Services Committee, Mike Riley, Purchasing Agent, said BHG submitted a response to an advertised Request for Proposals to manage transient dockage along East Linear Park. The council approved the request at Monday’s meeting.
