Mexico fourth graders were transported centuries back in time to learn great life advice from native leaders. They dove into the culture and circumstances of the 1800s during the interactive “The Keeper’s Voice” performance, as Merry-Go-Round Playhouse actors portrayed real-life and fictional characters of that time.
The Polar Express made its way into the Phoenix Central School District in the days before Christmas, leaving gifts and holiday cheer in its wake at Emerson J. Dillon Middle School.
The Amboy 4-H Environmental Education Center will begin its Winter 2018 Sunday Woodland Snowshoe Wanders programs in January, on Sundays, January 7 and 14, at 2 p.m. There is a program fee of just $4 per person or $12 per family, and children younger than three are free.
Decked out in hand-made reindeer and elf hats, the students delighted the audience with a medley of songs such as “Jingle Bells” and “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.”
Art students from Michael A. Maroun Elementary School recently had their work featured in a statewide exhibit in Binghamton. The exhibit was on display during the annual New York State Art Teachers’ Association conference and showcased student artwork across a variety of mediums.
Students from all grades had an opportunity to share their holiday plans and requests to Santa Claus with Oswego Mayor Billy Barlow, Police Chief Tory DeCaire and Fire Chief Randy Griffin during the lunch event on Dec. 14.

It wasn’t easy for members of the Oswego High School Key Club to keep their secret holiday project under wraps. But, last week, the Key Club finally unveiled its school-wide surprise for the faculty and staff.
Palermo Elementary students transformed into game programmers during the annual Hour of Code celebration. They were joined by millions of other students from around the world who were introduced to computer science and programming, as part of the global movement by Computer Science Education Week and code.org.
Palermo Elementary students and staff members collected more than 200 nonperishable food items to help keep community members healthy and strong, as part of the school’s annual “Project Share.”
