About 20 G. Ray Bodley High School students will receive college credit before graduation, thanks to the PELL Expriment through Cayuga Community College’s Fulton campus. The program began in the fall of 2016 when the U.S. Department of Education aimed to improve college graduation rates.
FJHS Principal Chris Leece said because he is a new principal, he aims to find ways to talk with parents of junior high school families about what is going well in the school and what could be improved.
Minutes before showtime, Tyler Dohse, station manager at Oswego High School’s WBUC, has his hands full. An interview subject has bailed at the last moment, throwing off a planned segment. The sports anchor is working through a proposed tagline to end his broadcast. Scripts are being loaded into the teleprompter. Dohse has one last quick chat with his on-air talent then sits down just out of view of the three cameras pointed at the news desk.
In an effort to reach more families – especially those in secluded, rural areas – CiTi will now offer easier access to hearing evaluations, central auditory process evaluations, hearing aid and hearing assistance technology verification and FM/DM verification services thanks to its own EARV, an educational audiology mobile unit.
Bright lights, smooth textures and serene scenes are a few of the highlights in the new Sensory Rooms for students with autism or autistic tendencies at the Center for Instruction, Technology and Innovation. Shannon Babbie, CiTi coordinator of student programs, said the rooms are designed to help provide a focus or calming environment to that specific population of students.
North Volney Methodist church will host a Fall Fun Day on the church grounds on Saturday, Sept 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be games for the children, crafts and other activities.
Mexico Elementary School’s open house was a huge success. Students and their families flooded the hallways and classrooms, as the children in grades pre-kindergarten through four were ecstatic to show off their school work and have their parents or guardians meet their teachers.
Bowen’s Corners United Methodist Church is preparing for its Annual Fall Rummage Sale and Bake Sale. The event will be held Oct. 6 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Oct. 7 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.at the church which is located at 758 State Route 176, just west of Fulton.
The Granby Elementary School Parent-Teacher Group hosted its annual kickoff event to celebrate a great start to the 2017-18 school year. PTG vice president Shannon Beebe said the event served as an opportunity to show students and their families how much life beyond the classroom exists with Granby Gators.
The Oswego County Falls Prevention Coalition “has your back” if you are a senior (or caring for a senior) who has experienced a fall or is at risk of falling. The coalition has information on programs to improve balance, identify proactive measures, and increase your confidence in falls prevention. It serves Oswego County residents by providing information on services that are available in the community to help prevent falls and increase balance.
