In an effort to continue JoeSpereno’s legacy and build the scholarship fund, his family and members of the local music community will hold a benefit concert from noon to 8 p.m. on Aug. 15 at Lighthouse Lanes in Oswego.
The Summer Concert Series at Journey of Faith U.M.C. on Tuesday, August 4, will feature Jeff Sawyer, joined by Rick Bush and Joe Cortini. The concert will take place at 7 p.m. at the gazebo.
Bishop’s Commons in Oswego is pleased to be able to welcome the public to a special summer afternoon event – legendary performer and radio personality Phil Markert will perform in the Grand Dining Room on August 14 beginning at 2 p.m. The event is free of charge and open to the public.
Today’s (Aug. 2) meeting was a smaller than usual group. Twelve members weighed in, five of them KOPS who are all under goal. Joyce was the Best Loser of the Day. Best Loser for the month of July is Mary. We were happy to see Jackie today. With her work schedule it isn’t always possible for her to weigh in.
Bonnie Finnerty was recently named Sandy Creek Elementary School Principal. Finnerty replaces longtime Principal Sue Ann Archibee who retired at the close of the 2014-15 school year. Finnerty is very familiar with Oswego County having grown up in, and graduated from, neighboring Pulaski High School.
Although local music trailblazer Joe Spereno lost his battle with cancer in May, his memory will live on through a newly created scholarship that will benefit a musically gifted Oswego High School student.
The Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church picnic will be Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. at Volney Town Hall Park pavilion. The town park is located at the corner of County Route 6 and State Route 3.
Hannibal Central School District will host a summer institute for incoming freshmen that allows students to work on skills and will minimize the learning gap between the eighth and ninth grade. The event will take place August 7, from 9:30 to 11 a.m in the district board room, 928 Cayuga St, Hannibal.
The second annual fabric sale fundraiser is being held to support the Oswego County 4-H Program, part of Cornell Cooperative Extension. This sale will be held August 15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Believer’s Chapel, 5375 State Route 3, Mexico.
