During their lunch periods, students at Michael A. Maroun Elementary were awarded for their good character and being responsible. Teachers chose students (within their class room) who they felt matched the month’s character trait of responsibility.
The Lunch and Learn program, spearheaded by school/home liaison Ariana Suhr, with the assistance of elementary Academic Intervention Services teacher Kristine Kaufman, was designed to give parents an up-close glimpse at the curriculum. With the Common Core Learning Standards taking hold, Suhr noted that many parents have never seen the learning material as it is currently being taught.
Although the show title may not be as widely recognized as classics like “Hello, Dolly” or “Phantom of the Opera,” the show’s director, Tom Briggs, is confident that “Curtains” will keep audience members entertained and on their toes for the duration of the performance.
Students at Fairgrieve Elementary School were recently recognized for not only their artistic ability, but also their willingness to learn, their behavior and overall attitude in art class by Kelly Allen, art teacher at the school.
As the Olympics kicked off on the international stage in Sochi, Russia, on Thursday, students at Fairley Elementary School held their own celebration. American flags, winter sports equipment and music welcomed fourth-graders into the school gymnasium, which was abuzz with patriotism and discussion about the winter Olympics.
Three students enrolled in the Floral Design and Greenhouse Technology program at Oswego County BOCES recently attended the New York FFA 212/360 leadership conference in Syracuse. The 360 Conference takes student full circle through chapter leadership development, and helps them to realize the potential they have to impact their schools and community.
Students at Fairgrieve Elementary School were recognized for their exemplary demonstration of the February district-wide expectation of honesty. The students were recognized during the school’s morning express meeting.
Basketball fever is running rampant at the Fulton Junior High School, resulting in a widespread outbreak of kindness and compassion. What caused the fever? A “Move To Include” Basketball Game that was coordinated by the school’s Friends of Rachel (FOR) Club in cooperation with the school’s student council and a local non-profit organization known as Move Along, Inc.
An initial informative program regarding DeMolay is set for February 9 at 2 p.m. It will be held at Hiram Lodge 646 Maple Avenue, Fulton. Guest speaker William Sardone, Executive Officer for New York State DeMolay will attend, along with other officials.
