Adults who are seeking to improve their literacy skills have an opportunity to do so, courtesy of a free series of classes offered through Oswego County BOCES. The free literacy classes provide valuable skills for adults who are looking to earn a High School Equivalency diploma, and openings are still available in Mexico and Pulaski.

The Blue Team at Oswego County BOCES Stepping Stones Day Program studied igloo construction recently using the flipped classroom model. The flipped classroom model inverts traditional teaching methods, giving students ownership of their learning. Educational technology and activity learning are two key components of the model.

The Greater Pulaski Community Endowment Fund (Pulaski Fund) raised $13,015 in individual and business contributions during its annual fall fundraising campaign. The John Ben Snow Memorial Trust gave a generous match helping the fund raise a total of $25,780 making the 2013 campaign the fourth most successful fundraiser in thirteen years.
Originally from Plymouth, Massachusetts, 22-year-old Leah Doherty, loves drawing, painting, coloring and crafts. Leah is one of many local artists that are featured as part of a special gallery located at The Connection Point on West First Street in downtown Oswego.

Oswego Hospital welcomed its first baby of 2014 at 4:19 a.m. on New Year’s Day.
Aedrienn Plumley was the hospital’s first newborn, weighing seven pounds and five ounces. His length was 21 inches.
