‘Caravanserai’ to Promote Understanding of Pakistani Cultures

 Arif Lohar, a popular Pakistani singer and player of the chimta (a tong-like, jingle-bedecked instrument), will bring the traditional folk music of Punjab to SUNY Oswego in April as part of the fall-to-spring program "Caravanserai: A Place Where Cultures Meet." SUNY Oswego’s Artswego will be among only five arts organizations nationwide to host groundbreaking performances, campus residencies and community dialogues in the first year of a program aimed at fostering better understanding of cultures throughout the many-hued world of Islam.

Cayuga CC Recognizes its First Graduates of Two New Health Care Certificate Programs

 Cayuga Community College recognized its first graduates of two new health care certificate programs July 25 during a Completion Ceremony on the Auburn Campus.The Medical Assisting certificate program required 180-hours of career training with an additional 40 hours of externships at health care organizations in the area. Students learned the types of insurance coverage in a health facility, the various ways of receiving payment, common medical codes, and HIPAA privacy regulations, among other topics.
