At a recent Fulton Sunrise Rotary meeting, Rotarian Linda Eagan introduced Elizabeth Weimer, who is the Caregiver Services coordinator at the Office of the Aging in Oswego for NY CONNECTS. NY CONNECTS is for people of all ages, any disability and caregivers.

Sgt. Alvin York’s World War I Infantry Manual will be displayed among the artifacts at the Fort Ontario History and Archaeology Conference April 22, at the Lake Ontario Conference Center, 26 E. First St. The conference features a roundtable discussion and student paper presentation on April 21, presentations by several local and international historians and archeologists, April 22, and a bus tour of French and Indian War sites in Oswego County on April 23.

Participants will be encouraged to develop and implement a personal plan for success and will have the opportunity to join a support group consisting of other adult learners. The program was developed by Oswego County Legislator Roy Reehil as part of the Oswego County Anti-Poverty Task Force that he chairs.

Oswego County Opportunities has announced that its transportation service, OPT, has made adjustments to its OPT 12 route which serves the Central Square – Mexico – Pulaski – Fulton – Williamstown area. The new route, which has been posted on the buses since early March, will be effective today April 17.

Any residents of Oswego that would like to make their food dollars go farther may order May Food $en$e packages until noon on May 12. All Oswego area residents may use the program. There are no income limitations and no restrictions on the number of items one may buy.

Photographer Irving Schild, a wartime resident of the Fort Ontario Emergency Refugee Shelter, will speak as part of SUNY Oswego’s Jewish American Heritage appreciation evening starting at 5 p.m. in the Marano Campus Center food and activity court on April 24 — the day widely observed as Yom HaShoah, or Holocaust Remembrance Day.

Over the course of two days, Oswego Middle School and Oswego High School students from the Mentor-Scholar program and their mentors from the college participated in workshops and activities tailored to their interests.

Executive Director of the Child Advocacy Center of Oswego County Karrie Damm introduced the new slate of officers for the CAC Board of Directors at the agency’s annual meeting held recently at the American Foundry.

Oswego County’s very own Regional Market is collaborating with Tobacco Free Network of CNY to launch this venue as tobacco free to benefit the health of vendors and customers, as well as keep the grounds free of tobacco litter.
