Because of recent business advances, local McDonald’s restaurants are hoping to hire up to 300 new crew and restaurant management employees across the area April 13. The openings include both full-time and part-time positions based upon individual restaurant needs. All who apply are guaranteed an interview.

Oswego Health recognized its more than 120 physicians who represent 30 specialties on National Doctors’ Day, which is celebrated each year on March 30. To thank its physicians for their exceptional patient care, the health system provided a special breakfast and hosted a new evening event at the Oswego Country Club.
The Oswego County Legislature recognized Kendra Harter at its March meeting for her inspirational example of hard work and dedication. A senior at Mexico Academy and Central School, Harter plays guard on the varsity basketball team where she has an impressive average of 16.6 points per game.
The Hannibal Historical Society will host local author Jim Farfaglia on April 25 at 7 p.m. Farfaglia will talk about his two newly-published books, Voices in the Storm: Stories from the Blizzard of ’66 and In Pursuit of Clouds: The Journey of Oswego’s Weatherman, Bob Sykes.
The Engineering and Technology Department will bring the STEAM to G. Ray Bodley High School on April 18. The department will be exhibiting the science, technology, engineering, art, and math courses offered to students at this year’s Spring STEAM Showcase, which will run from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
With its mission of protecting all children in Oswego County the Child Advocacy Center of Oswego County is constantly monitoring the driving factors behind physical and sexual abuse and premature, preventable deaths of children. Over the past year the staff of the Child Advocacy Center has noticed an alarming trend that is victimizing children even before they are born – opioid dependence.
An Oswego State student learned firsthand last November the advantages of having a community hospital and its emergency department close to campus. Oswego State junior Alex Peck attended his morning classes and then grabbed lunch. Soon he was experiencing stomach pains that just kept getting worse.
Students are named as honor roll students when they achieve an overall average of 84.50 or above. If a student achieves an 89.50 or above, they are placed on the High Honor Roll. To attain Principal’s List status, a student’s overall average must be 94.50 or above.
April is National Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). This year’s campaign focuses on ways that individuals, communities, and the private sector can help prevent sexual violence. This year, SAAM is celebrating its 15th anniversary with the theme “Prevention is Possible.”
