Jonathan Mooney, a dyslexic writer and activist who did not learn to read until he was 12 years old, recently captivated an audience of students from Hannibal High School with his successful life story. Mooney, a graduate of Brown University with a degree English Literature, has authored several published books and memoirs, and has been featured or quoted in several popular news outlets, including The New York Times, The Providence Journal and USA Today.
Nathaniel Hawthorne, of Fulton, is studying abroad this spring as part of a Union College international program. He is majoring in Chemistry and Mathematics and a member of the Class of 2016, is in Sicily, studying the Italian language, history and culture of Sicily and conducting scientific research.
G&C Foods has been a strong supporter of Oswego County Opportunities over the past several years. The company recently made a donation of $20,000 to the agency and will be rounding up a posse of seven teams to participate in this year’s OCO Rodeo Bowl on April 18 at Lakeview Lanes.

Children squealed with delight as the “Bubble Man” took center stage and made a variety of bubble creations, from space ships to snowmen. The highlight for the evening was when he put youngster Ava Stenson inside a bubble.
Kingsford Park Elementary School students celebrated St. Patrick’s Day this past week with some Irish Step Dancing and a visit from a festive leprechaun. Dance students from the Kinlough Academy of Irish Dance performed a variety of traditional Irish dance moves for the school-wide assembly, including jig lessons, where everyone participated.
The Oswego County Community Foundation (Oswego Foundation) has had an exciting few months, having reached its $500,000 fundraising goal in only two years of operation. It is now beginning to map out its grantmaking strategy for the coming year, including the distribution of grants from the A.L. Lee Memorial Hospital Health Fund.
