APW has created a BackPack Program, which has the goal of providing students who have been identified by the district to be at risk of hunger on weekends with a bag of nutritious food each Friday throughout the school year.

The Phoenix Central School District has installed a new visitor management system in each of their schools to ensure the safety of every student. The equipment is called the Raptor Visitor Management System. The equipment will track individuals entering each school building, keep unwanted visitors at bay and aid in safety alert systems.
John C Birdlebough students recently traveled back in time to Michael A Maroun Elementary as part of a mentoring program. Several JCB juniors and seniors participated in the event, pairing up in twos and shadowing a teacher’s class for the day.
Have a magical night with your special princess at the Fulton Family YMCA’s annual Daddy-Daughter Dance. This event welcomes fathers, grandfathers, uncles and anyone the child sees as a special male role model. Light refreshments will be provided and Leslie Ann Photography will be on hand to provide wonderful couple photos to take home.
Kindergarten registration is rapidly approaching in the Oswego City School District. This year kindergarten registration will be from February 23 to 27. Registration will take place in the school your child will be attending the week of February 23 to 27.
CNY Arts Center will offer classes for kids in paper crafting and collage, Irish Dance Drama, Glee Club, and beginning guitar lessons from February 16 to 20 during winter recess. Classes will be held at CNY Arts Center located on the CCC Fulton Campus and Arts in the Heart Studio at 47 S. First St.
Oswego High School’s rescheduled FAFSA workshop is Thursday, February 5, providing high school seniors planning to attend college, and their parents the opportunity to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid on-line. Experienced financial aid experts from the State University of New York College at Oswego Financial Aid department will be available to assist in the OHS Library from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
The shops at Canal Commons are planning a “Taste the Commons” event for Warm Up Oswego on Saturday. Tastings tickets will be available at the commons doors for $1 each. Some tastings may require more than one ticket. Tastings will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. during Warm Up Oswego.
The Fulton City School District Board of Education’s communications committee will host a forum in the library media center at GRB High School on Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. District residents are invited to the forum to ask questions and discuss events, programs and happenings occurring in the school district.
