Paul Lear, site manager of Fort Ontario State Historic Site, traveled up Big Sandy Creek to join in the Henderson Historical Society’s commemoration ceremony of the Battle of Big Sandy. This year marks the bicentennial of the Battle of Oswego at Fort Ontario, which was followed by the Battle of Big Sandy and the Great Cable Carry.
Air Force Airman Alexander J. Fatcheric graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.
The village of Pulaski regained the title of Oswego County’s best-tasting drinking water in an informal contest held June 5 at the Oswego Farmers’ Market. Six municipal water districts took part in the 24rd annual contest.
The Oswego County Legislature recognized Jean Mazzoli at its June meeting. A volunteer with the March of Dimes’ Central New York Division, Mazzoli is an inspirational example of community service.
The Oswego City-County Youth Bureau is opening a new summer youth recreation program for kids in grades kindergarten through fourth grade this summer at the Oswego County Nature Park at Camp Zerbe in Williamstown. Registration will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. through Thursday, July, 3 at the Camp Zerbe park, 253 State Route 104, Williamstown.
Students at Sandy Creek Elementary School took to the field on June 26 for their annual Fun Day.
Fun is just want the doctor ordered, Dr. Seuss that is. The physical education team at Altmar-Parish-Williamstown (APW) Elementary School partnered up once again with the school’s Parent-Teacher-Student Association for this year’s literary-inspired, Dr. Seuss-themed Fun Days.
More than $400,000 in scholarships, grants, and awards were handed out to graduating seniors from Altmar-Parish-Williamstown High School at their annual Senior Awards banquet. Principal Jamie Coppola, along with teachers and staff members welcomed the seniors and their families for the presentation of awards.
