A mini-carnival for families is among many events showcasing student skills and fun during Family and Friends Weekend, Oct. 19 to 21. Here education major Leonie Matzker paints the face of 9-year-old visitor Zoe Babcock during last year's activities.The three days show family members and friends what SUNY Oswego students have been up to for the first several weeks of the semester, while providing a range of special events for the campus and community to enjoy. Most events are free and open to all.

Oswego County Tributaries Will be Saturated with Steelhead this Fall

New York City attorney Emily Viglietta holds a beautiful steelhead taken last fall on the upper Salmon River in Oswego County.Lake Ontario’s salmon have been making it on the news a lot lately, and for good reason: a steady stream of mature kings and cohos ranging from 8 to 40 pounds has been ascending the Salmon River non-stop since the middle of September, drought conditions notwithstanding.
