Students Miss a Meal for Charity

SUNY Oswego student Elaine Wu, center, Student Association senator-at-large, and Craig Traub, left, director of dining services, present a check for $2,948 to Eric Bresee, director of youth and family services for Oswego County Opportunities. The check represents half of the money Oswego students raised by foregoing a dining hall meal one day spring semester. Another check for $2,948 went to the American Red Cross for its Japan Relief Fund. Many residence hall students at SUNY Oswego voluntarily take part in a Miss-a-Meal charitable fundraiser one evening each semester -- a decades-long tradition at the college.Many residence hall students at SUNY Oswego voluntarily take part in a Miss-a-Meal charitable fundraiser one evening each semester — a decades-long tradition at the college.

SUNY Students Hold Benefit Concert for Camp Hollis

Jessica Leigh Ryan organized a concert at SUNY Oswego to raise funds for Camp Hollis.One of the more unusual fundraisers was a benefit concert on the SUNY Oswego campus, hosted by the SUNY Oswego Lifestyles Center. The “Instill Hope” event was organized by Jessica Leigh Ryan, a graduate assistant who wanted to create “an opportunity to get students on campus connected to the community.”

Oz Roller Girls Make Donation

The Oz Roller Girls flat track roller derby team donated a portion of the proceeds from its first bout to the local Veterans Administration Outpatient Clinic. Involved in the donation are, from left, Laura Wills (also known as Certified Public Assassin) and Jamie Leszczynski (J Rock-It) of the Oz Roller Girls; Kathy Ranous, Peggy Cullen and Beth Castleman representing the VA Outpatient Clinic; and Oz Roller Girls members Lindi Himes (Crushed Red Pepper) and Katherine Hansen (Kannonball Kat-astrophe).
