Michaud Residents Spend an Afternoon at the Oswego Speedway as Guests of Track Co-owner Patrick Furlong

Pictured at a recent visit by residents of Michaud Residential Health Services to the Oswego Speedway is (left to right) host Patrick Furlong; his mother and Michaud resident Velma Johnson; and Oswego Speedway driver Greg Furlong.Residents watched a practice session up close and got a chance to meet with some of the drivers. The visit was hosted by track co-owner Patrick Furlong, who made everyone feel welcome.

Victorian Day at Bishop’s Commons

Oswego County AmeriCorps member Nicole Westerbeck recently held an event entitled “Victorian Day” as a part of her summer service to the Oswego County Historical Society Richardson-Bates House Museum. The event took place through a partnership with Bishop’s Commons where children from Little Lukes child care joined the residents for refreshments, Victorian-era games, and crafts. Shown at the event, from left, are Westerbeck, Avis Williams, and Claudia Chetney. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Celebrating Max’s Birthday

The Oswego YMCA Camp Ontario children and counselors recently visited the Oswego County Historical Society Richardson-Bates House Museum to celebrate the 172nd birthday of historic figure Maxwell Richardson. The group played games in the yard, went on tours of the museum, and enjoyed cake and fruit punch with society board members. Shown are campers and counselors as they relax on the lawn. Tours of the museum are available Thursday, Friday, and Saturday of each week from 1 to 5 p.m., or by special appointment. Great news for individuals who have difficulty reading the print on restaurant menus due to vision loss: Friendly’s is now the third restaurant in Oswego to offer a large-print menu to patrons.
