Oswego Health unveiled a new low dose computed tomography scanner at Oswego Hospital during an open house event held March 15. The new 128-slice CT completes testing faster and safer, with a 30 to 40 percent reduction in radiation dose, depending upon the requested study.

Kim Hyde, RN, clinical director of the maternity center, said her staff is educating new families on the initiative, “Back To Sleep,” which advocates parents to place their baby on its back when sleeping. She also recommends that there be no blankets, crib bumpers or toys placed in the crib of a newborn.

Oswego Health Gastroenterologist Bishnu Sapkota will discuss how community members can prevent colon cancer during an Ask The Doctor presentation to be held at 6 p.m. March 22 in the riverside room of GS Steamers in Oswego.
