The holidays have come and gone, but it’s never too early to start saving for this year’s holiday season. According to American Research Group Inc., planned gift spending for 2017 was $54 above spending in 2016 as shoppers around the country spent an average of $983 on gifts.
Oswego’s Teresa Woolson was a guest of Congressman John Katko at this week’s State of the Union address in Washington, DC. “He called me a couple weeks ago with the invitation. I was stunned, humbled and so excited. I had a fantastic time in DC. One of Katko’s aids picked me up at my hotel and we went directly to Katko’s office,” she told Oswego County Today.
Positive, encouraging, hopeful and supportive messages were written on those notes for students in grades nine through 12 – and building staff members – to read, remember and return the random act of kindness to others.
Oswego Rotary Club had a very special guest at this week’s meeting. Former Rotarian Greg Mills, new owner/operator of Murdock’s Bicycles and Sports, joined the club for lunch and the story of his journey.
The Oswego County Historical Society will host the 31st Annual “Not So Silent Auction” on April 6 from 6 – 9 p.m. at The American Foundry, 246 W. Seneca St. Tickets are $20 and will be available for purchase in advance and at the door the day of the event. The silent auction committee has been diligently seeking support for this year’s event.
The Oswego County Health Department offers a variety of services to all residents of Oswego County, including preventive health services, certified hospice, and a maternal and child health program.
At a recent Fulton Sunrise Rotary Club meeting, President Mike DeLorme introduced Leroy Collins from the Great Lakes Athletic Training Facility. Collins gave an overview of the services and programs available at the facility, which is located at 7 Silk Road in Fulton.
CNY Arts Center announces the debut of new director Dana Thomas with The Curious Savage running February 9-18. The play will be the 2018 season opener at the Arts Center located at 11 River Glen Drive on the Cayuga College Fulton Campus.
The Oswego Bookmobile recently completed its seventh successful season. We were able to provide a free book to each child who visited the Bookmobile due in part to the generous grant of $800 from the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau Mini- Grant, which enabled us to shop locally at river’s end bookstore.
