The Child Advocacy Center of Oswego County has announced that the seventh annual CAC Chicken Wing Fest will be held February 9 beginning at 6 p.m at the Lake Ontario Event and Conference Center in Oswego.
The Great Backyard Bird Count began in 1998 when the Cornell Lab of Ornithology joined with the National Audubon Society to launch this online citizen-science project to gather information about wild birds – the first of its kind. Now participants can join more than 160,000 Citizen Scientists from more than 130 countries.
Healthy Highways was introduced into Riley and Minetto Elementary School with the goal of shepherding children towards healthy choices with food and physical activity and teaching the benefits of those choices to students for the rest of their lives.
The Oswego Middle School’s Backpack Program, which sends packages of donated food home with students each weekend, reaches a crescendo each year during the holiday season and school officials are thanking supporters for their generosity.
The Roman Catholic Diocese of Syracuse will once again sponsor bus trips to the 45th annual March for Life in Washington, DC on January 19. A bus for adults and families will depart from Wegmans in Dewitt on January 18 at 11 p.m. and return on January 19 at 11 p.m.
To support the project, class members collect bottles and cans throughout the year through the IBEW’s Cans for Kids program. The funds are then used to purchase items needed by area hospitals and other organizations.
The Oswego Players recently elected a new board of directors to lead the organization through its upcoming 80th anniversary season. The newly elected board Includes Paul McKinney as president. He has been involved with theater his whole life as an administrator, director and actor.
Community members wishing to learn the best techniques for downsizing are invited to attend a free event at 1 p.m. on January 16 at Springside at Seneca Hill. Local relators from Century 21 will provide helpful information to alleviate the stress of downsizing to a smaller home or apartment.
Bradley Harrison of Pennellville, earned a degree from Nazareth College in December 2017. Harrison received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology.
