The first marking period is in the books and there were plenty of reasons to celebrate at Dennis M. Kenney Middle School. Nearly 225 students earned recognition for their attendance and academic success to start the school year.
The Fulton Family YMCA will hold a Girls Rock workshop during winter break. This is a one-day workshop is designed to give a preview of our positive self-esteem boosting program. Girls Rock is designed to transform self-doubts and insecurities into self-love and worth.
Hundreds of sophomores from throughout Oswego County recently gathered together at the Center for Instruction, Technology and Innovation during the annual Career and Technical Education 10th grade orientation.
Domino’s, located at 516 S. Second St., was recently recognized for its outstanding operation, perfect pizza making and quality of customer service as part of Domino’s Operations Evaluations Report program. “We’re committed to maintaining the highest standards of store operation and customer satisfaction,” said Tom Matweecha, Fulton Domino’s franchise owner.
The Preservation League of New York State is seeking nominations for its 2018 Excellence in Historic Preservation Awards, which recognize significant achievements in historic preservation throughout New York State. The nominations must be submitted online by February 15, 2018. The awards will be presented on May 9, 2018.
Members of the Oswego City School District’s Athletics Department are making their impact felt outside the gym this holiday season as student-athletes and coaches are pitching on service and charity efforts throughout their community. Bucs from all sports have been involved in the effort, said OCSD Director of Physical Education and Athletics Rhonda Bullard.
Recently, the Friends of History received a grant from the Fulton Sunrise Rotary Club and District 7150 for new computers and software updates. With these updates, the FOH will be able to catalog any Fulton
historical items loaned or donated to the John Wells Pratt House Museum, which is located at 177 S. First St. in Fulton.
“Our students recognize that these are the men and women who are working each day to make our community safer and we wanted to show them we appreciate them during the holiday time,” said OMS Principal Mary Beth Fierro.
For students at Pulaski Academy and Central School District, the joy of reading will now be coupled with the thrill of competition. Twenty-one sixth grade students at Pulaski Middle School will compete in a Battle of the Books event, the first time the district has participated in the program.
